School Anti Bullying Policy
Our Commitment
At Chongzheng Primary School, we believe that every child carries within them the potential to lead — with a heart to give and a mind to grow. Central to this belief is ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and empowered as they learn and grow alongside their peers.
Guided by our values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Steadfastness, Empathy, and Confidence, we are committed to building a vibrant school community by providing a safe, respectful, caring, inclusive and supportive environment for all. We believe in working in partnership with parents in nurturing individuals to become respectful, responsible and capable students.
Understanding Hurtful Behaviours and Bullying
We recognise that children are still learning how to navigate relationships, and disagreements are a natural part of growing up. However, there is an important distinction between occasional conflicts and bullying.
Hurtful behaviours refer to unkind, once-off acts such as an insensitive comment, a physical altercation, or an inconsiderate action. Bullying, on the other hand, involves persistent and intentional acts meant to hurt, humiliate, or exclude another person. Both are taken seriously at Chongzheng Primary School, and neither will be left unaddressed.
These behaviours can take many forms:
-
Verbally, this includes name-calling, spreading rumours, or making threats.
-
Socially, it may involve deliberately leaving someone out or encouraging others to ignore a peer.
-
Physically, it can mean pushing, hitting, or damaging someone's belongings.
-
In the digital space, cyberbullying refers to the repeated and intentional use of phones, computers, or social media to hurt or embarrass others.
Our Firm Stance
Chongzheng Primary School takes a firm stance against all forms of hurtful behaviour — from a single insensitive remark to persistent bullying and physical violence. Being Confident & Steadfast means we do not look away when something is wrong. We address each situation with care, fairness, and a commitment to restoring relationships and dignity.
How We Prevent Incidents
Prevention & Promoting Positive Interaction and Learning is at the heart of what we do. We foster warm, trusting relationships between teachers and students, and we invest in a strong peer support structure led by trained student leaders who look out for one another.
Through our Character and Citizenship Education lessons, students learn about empathy, conflict management, resilience, and cyber wellness — values and skills that prepare them for life beyond the classroom. We also maintain regular, open communication with both staff and students so that concerns can be surfaced and addressed early.
How to Report Concerns
We want every parent and student to feel comfortable coming forward. You can reach us through any of the following ways:
-
Speaking directly to any staff member;
-
Emailing the school;
-
Submitting an online confidential reporting form; or
-
Contacting your child's teacher or school leaders directly.
No concern is too small, and we are always here to listen.
How We Respond
When an incident is brought to our attention, our first priority is the immediate physical and psychological safety of all students involved. We conduct prompt investigations and provide timely updates, keeping in mind the complexity of each case.
Our response is guided by both accountability and care. Students who engage in hurtful behaviour will face appropriate consequences, which may include disciplinary actions, conduct grade adjustments, and structured opportunities to learn prosocial skills and make amends. At the same time, we put in place support plans for all students involved — including both those who were hurt and those responsible. Where needed, we provide school counselling, external referrals, and access to community resources.
Throughout this process, we partner closely with parents, keeping you informed at the earliest opportunity and working together on the best path forward.
How You Can Support Your Child
As parents, you are our most important partners in this journey. Here are some meaningful ways you can help:
Talk regularly with your child about their school experiences and friendships, and create a space where they feel safe to share. Teach and model respectful behaviour at home — including how to communicate calmly and kindly, even in difficult moments. Reinforce healthy digital habits and keep an eye on your child's online and offline interactions. When you notice something concerning, please share it promptly with your child's Form Teacher or Year Head so we can act together.
Use everyday moments as opportunities to help your child understand why certain behaviours are hurtful, and what it means to treat others with empathy and respect. These conversations, however small, go a long way in shaping the leaders our children are becoming.
